Need something to make you feel a bit better about the fact that summer is basically over? Well, my friend, this is it: Vigil will return to screens for a third season very soon. Yay!
The gripping crime series — which follows military investigator DCI Amy Silva as she investigates mysterious deaths and high-level military conspiracies — returns to BBC for season three this weekend. When, I hear you ask? Episode one airs on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday 30 August. The six-part series will then roll out across three weeks, with two episodes a week (on Sundays and Mondays). You’ll also be able to stream the series on BBC iPlayer.

As for what the third instalment of Vigil is about? According to a BBC synopsis, season three will see DCI Silva (along with DI Kirsten Longacre) head to a remote Arctic research station, where a member of a covert British special forces mission has been murdered.
The synopsis goes on: “Amy and Kirsten need to catch the killer and defuse a potential international confrontation, as different nations compete for control of the Arctic and its resources in the changing polar climate, with both their careers and relationship on the line.”
