4-star Canadian forward commits to U of A women’s basketball

Becky Burke and her staff are covering every corner of North America to fill out Arizona’s 2027 recruiting class.

The Wildcats’ latest pickup: four-star forward Ashley Vande Ven of Langley, British Columbia, Canada.

Vande Ven, who’s listed at 6-foot-2, currently plays for Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto. She also has experience with the Canadian national team.

Vande Ven averaged 8.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in the 2025 FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup. She averaged 10.6 points and 7.4 boards in the 2026 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Arizona has a successful history with players from Canada. Guard Shaina Pellington played for the Wildcats from 2020-23, averaging 10.3 points and making the 2023 All-Pac-12 Team.
