OpenAI co-founder and chief executive Sam Altman will meet with an Australian government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles in San Francisco this week as the clock ticks to sign major data centre deals with the company and its arch rival Anthropic.
Details of the meeting were confirmed by OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, which said Altman would attend to discuss issues confronting the industry and governments as the technology becomes more capable and data centres are built.
