World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has replaced golfing legend Tiger Woods as the PGA Tour’s all-time top earner. With his second FedEx Cup title, the 30-year-old has broken Woods’ 26-year record.
Before Scheffler teed up at East Lake, Woods was leading the money list by a little more than $600K. The 15-time major winner’s total, close to $121 million, has now been overtaken by the world No. 1.
Scheffler overturned a three-stroke deficit on Sunday at the Tour Championship. With a 4-under 66 in the final round, the 30-year-old came out on top by two strokes over Norway’s Viktor Hovland.

The FedEx Cup comes with a handsome $10 million payout. Scheffler’s earnings on the Tour surged to over $130 million with the dramatic win.
In just 22 wins, Scheffler has done what took Woods decades and with purses that have tripled.
“That has a lot to do with the purses and all that,” Scheffler said, as per HITC’s James Shearman. “I’m not really too close to him in terms of career wins, so. What, am I like a fourth of the way there? Something like that.”
The four-time major winner has made 170 starts on the American circuit and averages $767K per start.
Woods averaged less than half as much, about $320K per start, with 378 PGA Tour starts and 82 PGA Tour wins.
Scheffler’s ascent owes as much to modern purses as to his play.
Over this season, Scheffler racked up about $31 million in winnings, making it his best financial year on the Tour.
Woods took to social media and praised the season-finale winner.

At East Lake, Scottie Scheffler completely turned his season around.
Overcoming a three-stroke deficit on Sunday, the 30-year-old showcased why he’s the world’s best. Woods does know a thing or two about that.
“Three wins, five runner-ups and finishing the season No. 1. Those are some numbers to be proud of,” Woods wrote in a post on X. “Incredible consistency all season long. Congrats on a historic season, Scottie.”
Coming into the postseason, Scheffler just had the American Express title to his name.
It looked like a lacklustre season by Scheffler’s standards. However, things look completely different now.
Scheffler’s consistency finally paid off at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and now at the Tour Championship.
Scheffler is comfortably en route to becoming the PGA Tour Player of the Year for the fifth straight time, a feat previously achieved only by Woods.
