The Chicago Cubs were able to add two players to their 28-man roster on Tuesday, and prospect BJ Murray will make his MLB debut immediately.
Murray, currently ranked the team’s No. 19 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, will bat eighth and serve as the designated hitter as the Cubs take on the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field.
A 15th-round pick of the Cubs in the 2021 MLB Draft, Murray has had a strong season with Triple-A Iowa, slashing .294/.395/.500 with 16 home runs and 68 RBI’s in 516 plate appearances.
He also played for Great Britain during the World Baseball Classic, with two hits, two stolen bases and three walks in four games.

In an additional move, the Cubs also recalled pitcher Tyler Ferguson from Triple-A Iowa. Ferguson has made 16 appearances for the Cubs this season, with a 3.45 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work.
First pitch between the Brewers and Cubs is set for 6:40 p.m., with Matthew Boyd taking the hill for the North Siders.
