■ I. Overview of the competition and confirmation of domestic broadcasting

The 20th Summer Asian Games Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) will be held from September 20 to 22, 2026 at the Inae Sports Center in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

Japan’s Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games South Korea’s broadcast rights are held by the Akla Media Group and resold to three terrestrial broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS), TV Chosun (TV), and Chijik (New Media).

As a result of MK Sports coverage, SportyB (TV) and SportyB Now (New Media) will broadcast the mixed martial arts at the 20th Summer Asian Games in Korea. The broadcast form will be transmitted in a recorded broadcast method rather than a live broadcast.

■II. Adoption of official sports and competition regulations and equipment

Mixed martial arts was adopted as an official event at the 2026 Asian Games by the 93rd Asian Olympic Council (OCA) Executive Committee in February 2025.

The event will be held in a total of six subweight classes.

· Mandatory protective gear: All MMA competitors wear mouth guards, gloves over 4 ounces (0.11 kg) and shin guards. The man has a cystic brace added.

· Traditional MMA Features: Play in uniform, and are allowed to use the technique of catching and throwing the uniform and the technique of zorgi (submission) using the lapel.

■III. Status of domestic and foreign membership and administrative foundation

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) approved the Asian MMA as a member of the Asian Games Federation (AF) in December 2022. Since then, AMMA has granted full membership to the Korea MMA General Association (Chairman Moon Jung-hong) in July 2026.

The Korea Sports Association (Chairman Yoo Seung Min) held its 15th board meeting on May 15, 2026, which deemed the Korea MMA General Association to have met the requirements for joining the Asian Games standard and granted it a “temporary associate member” status.

※ Regulations on Membership of the Korean Sports Council: Temporary membership of quasi-member organizations is possible if at least four Olympic sports and at least one Asian Games sports organization is affiliated with the city and provincial sports association.

■IV. National team composition and participation goals

The national mixed martial arts team at the 20th Summer Asian Games consists of a total of three athletes.

In addition to the selection of Lee Bo-mi (3rd in the final qualifying round) and Choi Eun-seok (3rd in the first qualifying round), Yoon Tae-young, the first road FC welterweight champion, has qualified for the Asian Games as the Korea MMA General Association has secured one more ticket from the Asian MMA Association.

At the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games, the South Korean national team will compete with the goal of harvesting three MMA bronze medals.
