POOLE host the Championship Best Pairs at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday, 7pm) with a top quality line-up competing for the silverware at Wimborne Road.

Defending champions Redcar bid to continue their domination of the event which has seen them victorious in three of the last four seasons, including last year at Workington, and they are represented by Pairs specialist Charles Wright along with Jason Edwards.

The only other winners since Covid are Glasgow, and Chris Harris remains with the Tigers for their latest attempt where he is joined by Leon Flint.

Meanwhile the home side are represented by Richard Lawson and Zach Cook having twice been denied in the Final in recent seasons.

Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “Last year there was an incident in the Final that cost us the title, and I can also remember the time at Oxford when Steve Worrall had a fuel problem at the start of the Final that also cost us dearly.

“I believe that we have a line-up that can produce memorable racing on a track where most of the riders know how to score well, and so we have all the ingredients for a great night’s racing.”

One further change to the line-up has been announced with Troy Batchelor replacing Jonas Jeppesen for Workington as the Dane has been ruled out with a shoulder injury.
