NRL expansion club Perth has confirmed the signing of winger Jonathan Sua from Canterbury.
Sua, 22, has signed a three-year deal with the Bears, who will enter the competition next season.
“This is a massive opportunity for me, and I can’t wait to get started,” Sua said.
“Being part of a brand new club, building something from the very first day, isn’t something a lot of players get the chance to do.
“I want to make the most of it and show what I can do on a bigger stage. I’ve worked really hard over the last few seasons to get to this point, and I feel like my footy is in a really good place right now.
Sua has scored one try in six top-flight appearances for the Bulldogs this season.
“I know there’s still so much more improvement in my game. I’m ready to put in the work to become the best winger I can be,” he said.
“Moving to Perth is a big step, but everything I’ve heard about what this club is building really excites me.”
Bears coach Mal Meninga said Sua would be a “great addition” to the Bears squad.
“We’ve spent a lot of time building what we believe is going to form a competitive team,” Meninga said.
“Jon was a player we targeted early in our recruitment drive and I’m very happy he chose to be a Bear.
“He has progressed well through the 2026 season and proven he can play at NRL level. His effort levels playing on the wing have been excellent.
“We know he is ready and wants to be a regular NRL player, so the club is excited he is coming west.”
The Bears other signings include Broncos and Queensland centre Gehmat Shibasaki, Storm duo Tyran Wishart and Nick Meaney, and Raiders pair Morgan Smithies and Corey Horsburgh.
