With Katie Taylor v Flora Pili getting ever closer, as Taylor looks to close the book on a long and industrious career by becoming the undisputed super lightweight champion, there’s no shortage of juicy bets on offer.

Katie Taylor to Land the most Punches and To Win the Fight in Rounds 1-5

Pili will enter the arena with a 12-0 record, but hasn’t yet faced anyone with Taylor’s staying power or elite pedigree, and it’s also troubling for her that she’s only won by KO/stoppage twice.

Essentially, Pili is damned if she goes for it and damned if she doesn’t. She might well look to adopt a defensive strategy to see out the early rounds, but that only rubber stamps the apparent inevitability of Taylor landing the most punches.

She’ll do that anyway, even if Pili tries to surprise her early. It’s just a question of how soon Taylor finds a way through.

Taylor to Land 15+ Punches in Each of Rounds 3-7

Though Taylor has the potential to give Pili an early bedtime, neither fighter is renowned for carrying devastating knockout power, so a sustained pace and plenty of leather being exchanged looks likely.

And so, for anyone who thinks this fight will go to at least eight rounds, this more speculative selection holds some interest.

Taylor tends to plant her feet and let her hands go, regularly putting together a high output and landing plenty of shots in the process. That more or less covers anything in her favour when it comes to betting on punch volume.

Taylor to Win in Round 4 and Flora Pili to be Knocked down in the 1st Minute of Round 4

We’re not going to lie here. It’s something of a lottery guessing exactly when Taylor will win if it doesn’t go the distance.

However, this one is at the less speculative end of Paddy’s 50/1+ WOP band, and across the six times Taylor’s knocked out or stopped somebody, it’s happened in the fifth round on average.

Only the most recent instance saw the fight go beyond the seventh, so the average might be a bit inflated in any, giving some logic – however tenuous it may seem – to the fourth round being the likeliest in the round-specific Win & 1st Minute Knockdown combo market.

At any rate, Taylor’s tendency to land a lot is something that could increase the likelihood of a knockout early in any round, depending on how quick Pili adapts to any strategy changes from Taylor’s corner, or her own.
