I don’t know exactly what to make of the 2027 NBA Draft yet.
So consider this article me thinking out loud.
These aren’t final evaluations or predictions about where guys will be drafted. They’re simply some of the questions running through my head as I look at this class before the season begins, knowing that some of my opinions could look completely different six months from now.
But I can tell you this: I’m really looking forward to the 2027 NBA Draft.
And probably not for the typical reasons.
As of early September, I don’t look at this class and see the type of star power we’ve had at the top of some recent drafts. There’s no Victor Wembanyama or Cooper Flagg. Outside of Tyran Stokes, who is currently No. 1 on my board, I’m not sure there’s anyone I feel as strongly about right now as I did Cameron Boozer, AJ Dybantsa or some of the other elite prospects we’ve evaluated in recent years.
Of course, I could be completely wrong.
Nobody has played a college basketball game yet. We’re months away from knowing what this class actually looks like, and every year somebody emerges that very few people saw coming.
That uncertainty is exactly why I’m excited.
The 2027 NBA Draft feels like it has more questions than answers. And for someone who loves the evaluation process, that’s the fun part.
