THERE was a familiar face in unfamiliar colours at the recent Ipswich Super440 as the Blanchard Racing Team rebounded to form.
Working on Aaron Cameron’s #3 Liqui Moly Blahst Supercar was former Dick Johnson Racing stalwart Josh Silcock.
Across a decade at DJR, Silcock held roles including crew chief.
The #3 side of the BRT garage was down a mechanic after Sarah Abuawad returned to Tickford Racing.
Enter Silcock. It’s not yet clear whether Queensland Raceway was a one-off or if he’ll continue with the squad at next week’s AirTouch 500 at The Bend.
“He’s got so much knowledge and fits into our team so well, it has been a breath of fresh air,” BRT manager Kate Harrington told V8 Sleuth.
“He is obviously based on the Gold Coast, we’re Melbourne, so he’s not planning to move back anytime soon. But he was the number two on Car #3 for the weekend.
“We’re in talks about whether we can just have him for the rest of the season because we’re short a number two on that car.
“It would be awesome to have him with us for the rest of the season, especially going into enduros, just someone to have that knowledge.
“We’ve got a decent chunk of knowledge in the team but he’s just someone who has been there and knows how to operate in high-pressure situations at Bathurst and Tailem Bend. He’s a guy great.”
BRT regulars Cameron and James Golding will be joined by co-drivers Zak Best and Richie Stanaway for the enduros.
