Coronation Street’s Jacob Roberts has received support from his co-stars ahead of his huge new storyline. His character Kit Green will be diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in upcoming episodes of the soap.
Kit’s diagnosis comes after the death of his great aunt Celeste Butterfield, who revealed that cancer runs in their family via the BRCA gene. When his sister Gemma Winter-Brown shares the shocking news, Kit decides to get himself checked out after experiencing some concerning symptoms.

Taking to Instagram today, Roberts posted a promo photo for the storyline and shared his gratitude for being able to raise awareness about male breast cancer.
“Incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity to tell this story and portray such an important and often misunderstood subject,” he wrote in the caption. “Male breast cancer is something that still isn’t talked about enough and I’m proud to be able to play a small part in raising awareness.”
Roberts’ Corrie co-stars praised the actor in the comment section, with Gareth Pierce (Todd Grimshaw), Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) and Vinta Morgan (Ronnie Bailey) all sharing their support.
“Safe pair of hands for such an important story! Fly high son!” wrote his on-screen mum Jane Hazlegrove (Bernie Winter-Alahan).

The storyline will unfold next week as Kit heads to the hospital, where he has been secretly undergoing tests. Unfortunately, the doctor tells him that he has stage three breast cancer which has already spread to his lymph nodes.
Though he confides in Todd, the detective decides to keep his diagnosis under wraps from his family until he learns more. But a run-in with villain Ross Wilkes leads to a public showdown which could see his secret exposed.
