Records seen by the Daily Mail suggest Mr Doherty was arrested in Miami in November 2025 after being caught with amphetamine and marijuana on him.
He was detained after being found in possession of a controlled substance and resisting an officer without violence to his person. Recreational marijuana is illegal in Florida. Mr Doherty was found with less than 20g.
The social media star became famous after crashing his $300,000 new McLaren 570S in 2024.
The footage appeared to show he was holding and looking at his phone before the crash.
In a post on Twitter in which he shared a picture of himself shirtless at the scene of the accident, Doherty apologised to his friend who was injured in the accident.
“Going to post a more detailed response today but it’s been 24 hours since the accident and I just want to say how grateful I am that Michael and I are alive,” he tweeted.
“I’m so sorry Michael for putting you thru that. Thank you to all the first responders and everyone who helped us get out of the car. This could’ve been so much worse and it’s a huge learning lesson.”
In the shocking footage, two passers-by pulled Doherty out of the window while he continued streaming. He then assessed the damage to his car before running over to check on his friend in the passenger seat who was bleeding from his head and clutching his wrist.
“F**k dude. My f***ing car, holy sh*t no! Are you f***ing kidding me, bro? … Michael are you good?”
The pair were both taken to hospital where they were treated for their minor injuries.
The incident sparked outrage on social media, with fans hitting out at the star for being “reckless”.
“You could’ve killed innocent people on the road, yourself, & the camera man,” remarked one on Twitter.
