Master blaster Josh Brown brought his explosive T20 career full circle tonight with a commanding KFC T20 Max performance for Northern Suburbs at Allan Border Field.

The KFC T20 Max Final was one of the ages, with more than 500 runs scored as Norths clinched their first title in the competition.

In 2022, Brown was the player of the tournament, with his efforts leading him to a contract with the Brisbane Heat.

Tonight, as the Riverfire Firworks lit up the Brisbane CBD, he channeled his BBL best to sweep the Vikings to a stiunning win as they chased down Wests mighty total of 3-251.

Brown smashed 67 from just 23 balls, scoring at a strikerate just under 300.as Norths finished 6-257 in the final over.

Wests were led by the ultra-consistent Will Bisisto, who hit his second century of the tournament, featuring an astonishiing array of switch hits and reverse sweeps that netted him nine sixes as he peeled off 101 from 43 balls.

While Brown and Bosisto were stars with the bat, their supporting cast was equally eye-catching.

For Wests, Riley McCullum (26 from 11 balls), teenager Sohaan Sharma (56 from 36) and Tom Campbell (53no from 27) blasted all corners of Allan Border Field.

Noirths were not to be outdone, with a classy 72 from 36 balls by Aryan Jain, as he combined with Victorian import Cameron Hemp (50 from 21) getting the chase off to perfect start.

Intenationals Dane Cleaver and Joe Burns, and Norths captain Scott Palombo kept the scoing going, before Brown and Australian Under-19 left-hander Eli Brain geared up for the nerve-wracking final overs.

The Final came about after Wests overcame Ipswich and Norths chased down Redlands to win their semi-finals last night.

Semi-Finals

Wests v Ipswich

Left-armer Oli Patterson again made the most of being in the KFC T20 Max spotlight, with his new ball burst shaking Ipswich’s semi-final claims at Ken Mackay Oval on Friday night.

Patterson, whose T20 Max efforts for Wests as an unheralded teenager last season saw the NSW product land a Brisbane Heat contract and then a Queensland one-day debut, snapped up Hornets skipper Noah Emmerson (0) and dangerman Jack Wood (2).

The lively left-arm pacer went onto to finish with 4-12 from his four overs, as Ipswich was restricted to 8-109, with keeper/batter Mikey McNamara contributing 46 of those.

Another left-armer, orthodox spinner Angus Tolhurst, finished with 3-3 for Wests.

The chase went largely to plan, as experienced batter Will Bosisto (50no) steered them into the Final.

Redlands v Norths

Another measured batting effort from NZ T20 International Dane Cleaver and former Test star Joe Burns delivered the first loss of the competition for Redlands.

Despite finishing on top after going through the regular rounds unbeaten, the Tigers were unable to defend their total of 9-152 at Allan Border Field in Friday night’s semi-final.

The Vikings finished 2-153, with Burns 30no and Cleaver 47no after Melbourne recruit Cameron Hemp made the most of a surprise elevation to opener to crunch 52 from 28 balls.

Earlier, Redlands had fought hard through Queensland and Brisbane Heat wicket-keeper Jimmy Peirson, whose 52 from 34 balls held the innings together.

For Norths, pace bowlers Darcy Murphy and Jake Gibson and spinner Louis Morris each claimed two wickets.

Cleaver went to the top of the runs-scoring ranks for the tournament from his knock, moving to 368 runs at 52.57.
