George Russell, second place: “Huge congrats to Kimi, an incredible result from him. When I looked on the leaderboard at the beginning I saw he was P5, P4, I knew he was going to be in the mix. It looked like a pretty strong race from us, and then I was just struggling on the tyres as we did the whole race on that one hard tyre. It was more positive than pre-summer, which is what I needed to achieve but, of course, I’d have loved to have been P1 today.
“To be honest, I thought we were both going to stay out. In the end it was a roll of the dice both ways. Made sense to split the cars, but at the end Kimi had great pace.”
