A school-aged child has died and six others have been taken to hospital with injuries after a single-vehicle rollover on a regional road in Parwan, west of Melbourne, this afternoon.
One child was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
Emergency services received reports of a crash near the Nerowie and Parwan-Exford road intersections, south-west of Melton, just before 4pm.
Victorian Police said one child died at the scene while six others were injured.
“Despite CPR being performed, one school-aged child died at the scene,” a spokesperson said.
“A second child was airlifted with critical injuries. Five more children were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“One woman was taken to hospital for observation.”
Ambulance Victoria said four children had been taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital, including the one who was flown by helicopter.
Two children were taken by road to Western Hospital Sunshine and an adult was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Ambulance Victoria said many of its specialist crews responded to the incident.

“Two specialist Air Ambulance Victoria helicopter crews, two Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance paramedic crews and seven Advanced Life Support paramedic crews assessed eight people at the scene,” an ambulance spokesperson said.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
