A schoolchild has died and six others have been taken to hospital after a vehicle rolled in Victoria’s west.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Nerowie Rd and Parwan-Exford Rd in Parwan, about 45km west of Melbourne, about 4pm on Tuesday.

Police said one child died at the scene despite efforts to revive them.

A second child was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries, while five other children were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A woman was also taken to hospital for observation.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
