Fiber internet

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Over the last year, the City of Fargo has been working to install fiber lines with two fiber-optic internet companies.

The companies Gateway Fiber and Ubiquity Fiber are the two companies that are being offered to residents of Fargo.

Currently, residents between 40th Avenue South and west of Interstate 29 may have started to see the installation of the fiber lines underground.

The companies had approached the City of Fargo to install these lines throughout the city to provide low-cost and better access for customers.

“It’s another option, you know, our residents are going to have another option as to a choice on an internet provider. Choice is always good, you know, the more choices you have, you can find something that fits you best. And whether it’s existing or new, you’re going to have those choices now as this new installation is occurring,” said Kevin Gorder, Division Engineer for City of Fargo Engineering Department.

Residents in those neighborhoods may soon start to receive service in two months.
