Supercars’ motorsport operations manager James Delzoppo has been named as the stand-in general manager of motorsport for The Bend in Edwards’ place.
Edwards, however, has continued working while in recovery and is set to be connected to his trackside team with full vision and radio access at home on the Gold Coast.
It’s been a busy build-up to The Bend for Supercars’ motorsport department.
Supercars on Tuesday confirmed a parity change to the Chevrolet Camaro, while a major effort has gone into sourcing replacement brake pads following issues at Ipswich.
Track action kicks off on Friday with an untimed session dedicated to bedding in new brake pads imported from UK-based control supplier Ferodo.
A total of five timed practice sessions will follow across Friday and Saturday ahead of qualifying, a Top 10 Shootout, a warm-up and the 500km race.
