On Monday, Huawei launched the Mate XT 2 tri-fold, and an email about the new foldable is now going viral on social media as part of a paid campaign that Huawei has refuted.
An unauthorized influencer campaign on social media circulated an email saying Huawei will provide the original Mate XT 2 video materials, and users can creatively remix or edit the content to publish on their TikTok.
However, the email comes from an agency, not from Huawei. It reads that the company is hiring influencers to promote the new Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design smartphone featuring a 10.2-inch foldable display.
The campaign details came out around Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro event, asking them to promote the new foldable. However, the email bars creators from labeling their posts as “paid or sponsored”.
Also, they need to post it on September 10th, 12:00 PM PT (Los Angeles), 3:00 PM ET (New York), US Time. It adds “the sooner, the better” to the posting timeline.

“If you’re interested, please share your rate for this collaboration.” Concludes the email.
After gathering online attention, Huawei reacted to this scenario with the following statement.
“We clarify that HUAWEI has neither launched such a campaign itself nor authorized any third party to do so. We are investigating the potential source of the content contained in that email.”
The company mentioned that it is aware of the “unauthorized influencer campaign email” and is looking into the matter.
“HUAWEI is committed to transparent disclosure in all public communications and is strengthening its oversight to ensure all marketing activities meet platform policies and industry standards,” noted Huawei.
