A man has died following what police have described as a targeted shooting in Sydney’s south-west.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene at a car park at a community centre in Punchbowl, but he could not be saved.
NSW Police were called to the site at about 5.50pm on Wednesday following reports of a shooting, with a crime scene now established.
Police say a silver Lexus sedan was spotted driving away from the area after the incident.
The man has not yet been formally identified, but Acting Superintendent Dean Johnstone said police believe him to be a 32-year-old man who was known to police.

He said the incident was believed to be targeted, but would not confirm if the shooting was linked to organised crime.
Superintendent Johnstone said it was fortunate others were not injured in the incident.
“This is a callous act,” he said.
“The implications of this act could have easily endangered other members of the community.
“Those actions cannot be tolerated.”
A witness to the incident said he heard multiple gunshots and ran to provide first aid to the victim.
It comes after the state government on Monday announced a swathe of legislative reforms as part of a crackdown on organised crime.
It followed two suspected mistaken identity shootings in as many days last week.
Police and state government figures have repeatedly rejected suggestions underworld violence is out of control.
NSW Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane acknowledged the shooting in a post on social media, noting it was the third incident of its kind in the city over the past week.
Police say no further information is available at this time, with investigations ongoing.
