BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing has a new main event for its first show in Newcastle, with Rolando “Dy Incredible” Dy set to defend the BKB Super Welterweight World Championship against Scott “The Mute” McHugh on October 10 at Utilita Arena Newcastle.
The title fight replaces the planned heavyweight headliner between local favourite Mick Terrill and Kamil Sokolowski. Terrill accepted a short-notice challenge against BKB heavyweight champion Gustavo Trujillo while travelling to Miami to promote the Newcastle card, but suffered a cut in that bout which will not heal in time for October 10. BKB says Terrill is still expected to attend the event as a special guest.
BKB 60 – Rolando Dy vs. Scott McHugh
Dy arrives as the champion with a 6-1 bare-knuckle record and five knockouts. The Filipino fighter won the belt in December 2025, defeating previously unbeaten Liam Rees by unanimous decision at BKB 49 in Cardiff. That result made Dy the first fighter from the Philippines to win a BKB world championship.
His first title defence came in Manchester at BKB 54, where he stopped former two-weight boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi in the second round. Dy dropped Malignaggi twice before the contest ended 56 seconds into the round, giving the champion a high-profile win before his next assignment in the Trigon.
The 35-year-old is the son of Rolando Navarrete, the former WBC super-featherweight champion. Dy competed in MMA before moving into bare-knuckle boxing, including a spell in the UFC, but has found a different lane in BKB. His win over Rees gave the Navarrete-Dy family a rare cross-discipline distinction: father and son have each held world titles in combat sports.
McHugh brings the more extensive bare-knuckle résumé into the championship fight. The Leeds fighter is listed at 17-5 with seven knockouts, has won five consecutive contests and recorded three stoppages during that run. He is a five-time BKB champion and a Bare Knuckle Hall of Fame inductee, with more than 20 professional bouts in the format. A victory in Newcastle would extend his winning streak to six and add another title to his collection.
The co-main event is a rematch between Scotland’s David Winiarski and Wales’ Keiron Harding at super middleweight. Harding, 3-0 with three knockouts, beat Winiarski by third-round TKO via doctor’s stoppage when they first met at BKB 49. Their first contest received Fight of the Night honours. Winiarski, 7-1 with seven knockouts, will try to settle the score after suffering the only defeat of his bare-knuckle career.
