SUNS EMERGE AS CONTENDER FOR SAINT
Gold Coast has been the first club publicly linked to 2024 top-10 pick Alix Tauru as he considers whether to explore his options at the Saints.
AFL Media reports the Suns had interest in Tauru during his draft year and still hold interest, as they consider the talls on the market with Ben King set to join Hawthorn.
St Kilda is interested in extending the 193cm high-flyer after he played 19 games in his first two seasons, but fell out of favour under Ross Lyon late this year.
Foxfooty.com.au’s Ben Cotton reported last month up to five clubs have flagged their interest in Tauru while Seven’s Tom Morris reported on Wednesday night rivals now believed he could ask to leave.

“He’s got one year left on a deal. The behind the scenes nature of this, is that his management is also the same management of Leek Aleer — and I don’t think they’re too fond of St Kilda after what happened with the Giants defender last year,” Morris said on Wednesday night.
“I also don’t think that Tauru is necessarily fond of playing VFL. So, the view from other clubs, is that he’s looking for a way out at the end of this year; even though he’s got another year on his contract.
“I think St Kilda would like to extend him, but this is certainly one to watch in the trade period to see how hard this player wants to push … that would be disaster for St Kilda (if he left).”
Reporter Mitch Cleary added: “I expect the Devils to come hard into 2027, when his contract expires.”
Tauru went with Pick 10 in the very talented 2024 crop, behind Tobie Travaglia who the Saints added at Pick 8. The likes of Xavier Lindsay, Murphy Reid, Jobe Shanahan and Ty Gallop went later in the draft.

UNLIKELY NEW TEAMMATES’ CATCH-UP
It would’ve been unthinkable two years ago but future Gold Coast teammates Scott Pendlebury and Christian Petracca have been snapped catching up in Melbourne.
In what was unlikely to be a coincidence Seven’s Tom Morris spotted Collingwood champion Pendlebury and ex-Demon Petracca at Toorak cafe Casa Del Cibo on Thursday.
The former rivals will play together at the Suns next season and posed for a happy snap.
