Co-drivers had The Bend to themselves on Friday afternoon for the first of two sessions exclusively for the additional drivers.
Hall wound up on top of the timesheets with a 1:17.4275s in the Team 18 Camaro, making it two from two sessions topped for Chevrolet after Jayden Ojeda went fastest in the first practice.
Bathurst 1000 winner Todd Hazelwood was second-fastest for Dick Johnson Racing and 0.0249s off the pace with a 1:17.4524s to his name.
Ford occupied second through eighth with Scott Pye (Triple Eight) third followed by Mark Winterbottom (Tickford Racing), Tony D’Alberto (Dick Johnson Racing) Tim Slade (Grove Racing), Will Davison (Grove Racing) and Jack Perkins (Triple Eight).
Kiwi teammates Fabian Coulthard and Jaxon Evans were ninth and tenth respectively for Walkinshaw TWG Racing in their Toyotas.
The next-best rookie behind Hall was Capbell Logan, who was a standout in 11th. Tickford Racing teammate Reuben Goodall was 15th in the car he will share with Thomas Randle.
“It was difficult, that’s for sure,” Goodall said of his session.
“It’s quite hard to drive at the moment, but obviously Thomas is very fast at the moment in Practice 1, so the car has got everything there.
“I obviously just need to look through some data and see where we can find a little bit of pace, whether that’s in fuel load and tyres, which I’m sure there’s a little bit, as well as obviously the driver aspect as well.
“I’ve got no better guys to look up to than Cam (Waters), Tom and Frosty (Mark Winterbottom) to review, so no excuses come Practice 3.”
The session ran without incident.
