A move from the Philippines to Bunbury for work turned into a love story for a couple who first met as housemates in 2023.

31-year-old Leanne Salvador and 38-year-old Jose Paypon were oth recruited to work at a local company, the pair were placed in the same rental property, where their friendship gradually blossomed into a relationship.

On their wedding day, the couple celebrated their Filipino heritage by including a traditional prosperity dance.

With loved ones travelling from overseas for the occasion, Leanne and Jose said the most special part was having family and friends together to celebrate their marriage and culture.

When and where

Leanne and Jose married on August 8, 2026, at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Bunbury, followed by a reception at Dalyellup Community Centre.

Leanne found her dress on Facebook Marketplace for $50 and made it her own by styling it with a pearl veil, belt and white fur bolero. Jose wore a suit purchased from the Philippines.

They currently don’t have any honeymoon plans.
