I tried to ask this question during this week’s mail bag, but I didn’t get it in on time, so I figured I’d post it here for discussion:

Alexa Grasso fights this weekend. In her last outing, she had arguably one of the greatest finishes (against Maycee Barber) in female combat sports history. I like to think of it as the female equivalent of Demetrious Johnson finishing Ray Borg — the fluidity of the transition from piecing her up into the submission was flawless, textbook. The definition of killer instinct. See it again here:

But that got me thinking: Grasso isn’t someone who’s going to end up in the Hall of Fame. Is the fate of this finish, the height for which it will be remembered, simply as a UFC highlight reel? Or instead, should the UFC Hall of Fame have a “Greatest Finishes Wing,” similar to its “Fight Wing,” only those fights honor both fighters, and the Finishes Wing would only honor the finisher.

Thoughts? Think Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort (or Forrest Griffin, or Stephan Bonnar). Those fights don’t necessarily deserve a place in the Fight Wing, but do they as finishes?
