David Warner has sensationally become involved in a social media spat in which he appeared to throw his former teammate under the bus.
The former batsman retired from cricket in 2024 and now works as a pundit, appearing on Kayo during the recent Test series against Bangladesh.

But it appears he still has a competitive edge and decided to call out an English cricket account which poked fun at him on X.
The official account of The Barmy Army, which boasts almost 500,000 followers, shared a stat brought to light by Andy Zaltzman, BBC’s statistician for Test Match Special.

Zaltzman said: “The last opener to make a pair against England was David Warner in Hobart in January 2022 and before that Warner against at Old Trafford in 2019.”
Warner took exception to the stat and hit back, sparking an exchange with the account.
“Hey guys, sorry time zone got the best of me. Interesting stat. When was the last time I went 42 innings without a test hundred??” he wrote on X.
“Oh do you guys still have a curfew, asking for a mate.”
Warner’s mention of the 42 innings without a test hundred was a reference to Marnus Labuschagne’s barren run, with some suggesting Warner threw his former teammate under the bus.
The Barmy Army poked more fun at Warner, joking that he was “still nibbling outside off”.
Warner responded saying: “Been retired a few years now! Eyes have gone, think you need a new target or you still need followers still. Happy to buy a few for you guys.”
Meanwhile Labuschagne has stirred debate over whether he should have been selected for the Tour of South Africa given his poor form.
“Am I surprised? It’s hard to be surprised because they just keep picking him,” said Ricky Ponting after his selection was confirmed.
“In the back of my own mind I was like, ‘has the time come when they’re going to make that call yet, or is it not?’
“They’ve decided not to, and the only thing I can think is they’re going to shuffle the batting order around to accommodate somehow because I can’t see how they can keep going the same direction they’ve gone.”
