Hull and Woad went out first against the American pairing of Alissen Corpuz and Nelly Korda.
However, the bold move by captain Anna Nordqvist did not pay off, as Corpuz and Korda ran out as 4&3 winners.
The English duo then tied their afternoon fourball match against the US Solheim Cup pairing of Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin, having led for large parts of the round.

It’s fair to say that there wasn’t much chemistry between Charley Hull and Lottie Woad throughout the opening day.
It was a real surprise to see them go out once again in the afternoon, and an even bigger one when they were paired together once again on Saturday.
Hull spoke to reporters on Friday at Bernardus Golf.
After the fourball matches, Hull was asked to give her verdict on the day’s play in the Netherlands.
“Yeah, I like matches like that. They’re really interesting,“ Hull replied.

“It was good fun. There was a lot of birdies. There was some tricky holes out there, some long iron shots middle of the round because it started raining and the wind got up a little bit, and then now the sun’s come out.
“But, yeah, Lottie played great. She made a great eagle on, I think, like, the 10th hole and it was a really good match.“
Charley Hull and Lottie Woad are not a great pairing
Woad did play some good golf throughout the day on Friday, but it’s hard to argue a case for the two Englishwomen being a good pairing.
The fact that Nordqvist sent them out together again on Saturday was a huge shock to everyone involved.
It reeks of stubbornness from the Swede. Just like Keegan Bradley did at Bethpage last year, she is determined to prove that her selection was the right one.
And if she persists with Charley Hull and Lottie Woad as a pairing, it could end up costing Team Europe at the Solheim Cup.
They hardly spoke to each other during the matches on Friday, and that simply isn’t right.
