Over a 10-year career, Booker has missed the postseason five times and has not advanced past the first round since 2022.
With his sole NBA Finals appearance over five years old now and the Suns’ bleak competitive future due to their exhausted future assets, it’s not crazy to imagine the 29-year-old wanting a new team eventually.
Warriors are leading the line if Devin Booker leaves Phoenix
Tim Kawakami of The Athletic appeared on his ‘Warriors Plus Minus’ podcast and revealed that the Warriors would actively pursue Booker if he were to become available.
“I think the Warriors like him too much, if you ask me. But they love him. Steve (Kerr) loves him. Booker loved playing for Steve. If that plays out in a poor way, they’ve traded every draft pick. How do they get draft picks back? How do they restart? I know the Warriors would be first in line saying, ‘We got three first-round picks we can give you.’”
We saw Damian Lillard leave Portland after 11 years with the franchise when nobody ever imagined he would leave. The same could be said for Bradley Beal’s 11-year tenure with the Washington Wizards.

Booker is entering Year 11 of his time in Phoenix. Just like Lillard and Beal before him, Booker doesn’t seem to actively care about leaving the Suns for a win-now team.
But if the opportunity to team up with Stephen Curry and then lead the Warriors after Curry retires comes up, Booker would have to consider it.

Booker averaged 26.1 points and 6.0 assists last season. He is one of the best scorers in the NBA and has spent the last three seasons actively trying to become an elite on-ball playmaker.

He is a solid defender for his position and incredibly productive offensively, so a backcourt with him and Curry would presumably be ranked as the best in the NBA.
The 29-year-old Booker is old enough and seasoned enough for the Warriors to acquire him for immediate contention while also having more years after Curry’s eventual departure.
The cost of the trade would be important, as the Warriors likely would not hand over more than three first-round picks for a guard in his 30s, but it could lead to a terrific return on investment.
