Chris Rock wants a fourth Madagascar movie, admitting he no longer has “Madagascar money” following his costly divorce settlement.

The comedian, who voiced Marty the Zebra in the hit animated franchise, called it quits with his wife of 20 years, Malaak Compton-Rock, in 2016.

The split reportedly wiped out up to $A60m ($US40m) of the 61-year-old’s fortune in liquid assets and real estate, including their mansion in Alpine, New Jersey.

Speaking in an interview with Variety, Rock looked directly into the camera to pitch DreamWorks bosses for another sequel.

“I don’t know who I’m talking to. Do you understand I got divorced?” Rock said.

“I don’t have Madagascar money anymore.”

While Rock maintains an estimated net worth of $90m ($US60m), he insisted it was time to revive the blockbuster franchise, which generated three films and multiple spin-offs.

“We did three of them, I pray to God we do one more,” Rock said.

“In a world where they’re rebooting everything, let’s do Madagascar! We only did three. There’s five Ice Ages. Five! Okay? F**k Ray Romano! I need another Madagascar. It’s time!”

Rock noted the 2005 original was “probably the biggest movie I’ve ever been in” and questioned why rival franchises were getting extra instalments.

“[Wasn’t there] like a Toy Story 4 or 5? Why can’t we figure this out?” he said.

“I played Marty the Zebra in Madagascar. “Me, Ben Stiller, and two other people.”

The funnyman avoided mentioning co-star Jada Pinkett Smith by name during the interview, referring to her simply as one of “two other people” in the main cast.

Rock famously hit headlines globally in 2022 when Pinkett Smith’s husband, Will Smith, slapped him on stage at the Oscars after Rock made a joke about her shaved head.

Rock sold a long-held Brooklyn property for $4.9m ($US3.25m) in 2017 following his divorce settlement, while his ex-wife retained their primary New Jersey estate.

The Saturday Night Live alum purchased the four-bedroom estate in the upscale Alpine neighbourhood back in 2001.

He currently splits his time between residences in New York and Los Angeles.
