The city of New Bern welcomed community for an afternoon of art Saturday. This is the 5th mural painted by the community and the Craven Arts Council. This one painted by more than 400 people from right here in our Community.

It’s all part of the Arts in place program called Arts in April. Today, they unveiled the artwork celebrating the Flying Fox cocktail bar at 411 Broad Street. Craven Arts Council executive director Jon Burger gave us a closer look into the piece, and why these projects are a great addition to our city.

This one we called party animals. It’s a humans with animal heads sort of having a little party scene. The kids get into it. They love it. They get to drive by and say I painted that spot. It also involves the public in the creation so that they feel some sort of ownership. It’s art for the community by the community.
