Sandra Bullock seemingly took a dig at Keith Urban while responding to a question about “hating” your partner’s music in an interview with her celeb pal Nicole Kidman.
Kidman and country music star Urban announced their separation after nearly 20 years together in late 2025, and officially finalised their divorce back in January.

Now, Bullock – who stars opposite Kidman in Practical Magic 2 – made a not-so-subtle reference to the split with a cheeky jab at Urban on the Therapuss podcast.
The stars were asked to give advice to a podcast listener who wrote in about “hat[ing] my boyfriend’s music” and “struggling” to sit through his demos and performances.
Not wasting a moment, Bullock quickly responded with an apparent reference to Kidman’s own relationship to a musician, saying: “If you don’t like the music, it’s not going to ignite the fuel [in you.]”
“So this is a tricky one. Nicole…?” Bullock quipped.
The joke – which implied Kidman was in a similar position to the podcast listener – got a big laugh from both Kidman and Therapuss host Jake Shane, with the actress then elaborating on her own advice for someone who hates their partner’s music.
“Find something to like about it,” Kidman laughed. “Give him a compliment. Give him a bone.”
Fans were quick to react to the shady moment on social media, writing that the interview “took a turn real quick” while applauding Bullock’s “quick wit” and Kidman’s “great answer.”
It’s not the first time Kidman has been swept up in a joke about her ex’s music career. During her 2025 Golden Globes monologue, host Nikki Glaser jokingly thanked Urban for “playing guitar around the house so much that she wants to leave and make 18 movies a year,” prompting laughter from the couple in the audience.
Kidman has spoken about the impact of her divorce from Urban in recent months, telling British Vogue that she “didn’t expect” the split and admitting her future was unknown.
“I’m like, ‘OK, I didn’t expect this, I had a different view of what my life was going to be, but this is what it is now’,” she told the magazine. “You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of what it’s all going to be like and then it’s … not.”
“You have to adjust. You adapt. The future, it’s completely unknown to me right now,” she added.
In the same Vogue story, Bullock threw her support behind Kidman, telling the outlet; “It seems both of our mothers raised very independent women.”
Kidman and Bullock wrapped filming for Practical Magic 2 just weeks before the former’s split from Urban was revealed.
Urban and Kidman share two kids together, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
