8m agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 5:49amHALF-TIME: Manly leads the Dolphins 22-12 after a furious first halfThis clash between two thrilling attacking outfits is certainly living up to its billing, with SIX TRIES in the opening 40 minutes.
The speed of the Sea Eagles out wide is just killing the Dolphins, who don’t lack for pace of their own, but the attacking movement from Manly is just overwhelming them right now.

39′ Hammer saves the day late
The Sea Eagles look destined for another try just before half-time as Jason Saab breaks down the right wing, but his grubber isn’t good enough and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow arrives just in time to gather the ball in and stop himself going back into the in-goal.

32′ Manly almost in again
The first set after points ends right up the other end once again as the Sea Eagles regather a dropped bomb and find Jason Saab out wide, but Trai Fuller arrives just in time to bring him down a metre short.
That’s an amazing tackle by Fuller who must be spotting Saab about 20 centimetres of height.
21m agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 5:36amCoast to coast and the Sea Eagles are flying!
Manly goes 80 metres on the second tackle off the kick-off.
Tolu Koula bumps Jamayne Isaako and offloads to Lehi Hopoate, who bursts down the sideline and then puts a move on Trai Fuller to set up Ethan Bullemor for the long-range effort.
DCE finally misses one and the Sea Eagles lead 22-12 with 10 minutes still remaining in this half.
23m agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 5:34amManly in again as Hopoate somehow stays in play
The tap-on cut-out pass from Tom Trbojevic is perfectly placed for a flying Lehi Hopoate, who explodes over the last 15 metres to the tryline.
Jamayne Isaako can’t turn in time and Trai Fuller, despite flying across and hitting Hopoate with a shoulder charge that I imagine will see him cited, just bounces off as Hopoate keeps his feet and grounds it out wide.

20′ The Dolphins are too slick
Trai Fuller fields the kick and immediately shifts to Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, playing centre once again today.
He flies down the sideline and might have gone the distance if not for a DCE ankle tap. Still, he slides, somehow stays in and goes again, offloading back to Fuller, who shakes off Jason Saab (good grief there’s some speed out there today) and finds the Hammer again and he’s eventually brought down deep in Manly territory.
35m agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 5:22amIt a beautiful mess and the Sea Eagles are in again!
DCE’s bomb holds in the breeze and gets away from Trai Fuller. The ball bounces at right angles and Lehi Hopoate gets it on the wing. He’s brought down well by Fuller, but he offloads to Tolu Koula, who dumps a ball out the back. It looks like it won’t be good enough, but Luke Brooks arrives and toes it ahead, outpacing Tevita Naufahu to ground it just before the dead-ball line.
Once again we’re all square at 12-12 as DCE’s conversion curls through the posts.
We’re going at better than a point a minute.
37m agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 5:20amToo easy again for the Dolphins
On the back of a penalty and a set restart, Francis Molo is stopped well down low by Jake Simpkin right on the tryline, but the little Manly hooker can’t recover at first marker as Jeremy Marshall-King skips out and dives in under the posts.
I wonder if Simpkin was a little rattled by that tackle on Molo.
Dolphins lead 12-6.
45m agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 5:12amSea Eagles storm in
If the defence and ball handling in the first seven minutes is anything to go by, we could be in for a high-scoring clash today.
The Sea Eagles are targeting the right-side defence of the Dolphins, with Luke Brooks and Ben Trbojevic threatening.
Tom Trbojevic skips out of dummy half and all eyes are on him, allowing him to pop a short ball to Matt Lodge to crash over past Francis Molo as Kurt Donoghoe arrives late.
We’re all tied up at 6-6 as DCE converts after eight minutes.
50m agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 5:07amThe Dolphins slide through a gap
It’s a good line run by Kulikefu Finefeuiaki and Isaiya Katoa hits him with a good short ball, but it’s a pretty soft try as he blows between Tolu Koula and Luke Brooks to crash over.
Horror start for Manly here, trailing 6-0 after three minutes.

2′ Manly makes first error and Sea Eagles lose their challenge!
Lehi Hopoate, playing on the wing as Tom Trbojevic returns to fullback, takes the second charge of the game for Manly and knocks on in a strong tackle from, among others, Felise Kaufusi.
Daly Cherry-Evans inexplicably decides to challenge after 65 seconds and the replays show Kaufusi’s hand knocking the ball out in a standard tackling motion.
The Sea Eagles will play the rest of the match without the ability to challenge.
55m agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 5:02am1′ We are underway at Brooky
Manly kicks us off and the Dolphins charge it back.

Brookvale welcomes DCE for his milestone match
The crowd warmly applauds as Daly Cherry-Evans is accompanied by his family out onto the ground.
He’s just the sixth player to reach 350 games.
As we kick off, can you tell me the other five?

About last night …
Look away Penrith fans, but this is too good not to show again …
What a finish in Mudgee last night. And the Storm-Bulldogs game wasn’t real bad either.

Daly Cherry-Evans’s time at Manly is coming to an end under inauspicious circumstances.
His relationship with the club is frayed after he announced his exit on network television earlier this year, and the fans aren’t happy as the team struggles once again.
But you’d have to expect Brookvale Oval to turn it on for one of their greatest sons today.
In a fun twist, Cherry-Evans and Ben Hunt made their under-20s debuts one day apart in 2008 and celebrate their 350th NRL outings one day apart in 2025.
1h agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 4:38amRaiders crack 50 in NRLW
From getting their first win of the season against 11 Warriors to smashing the Bulldogs by 32 this week, what a time for Canberra’s NRLW side.
Coming off the back of the men’s side’s heart-pounding, gut-busting, nerve-rattling win over Penrith in Mudgee last night, the women’s side put Canterbury to the sword at Belmore this afternoon.
It started with a try to Mackenzie Wiki in the second minute and they went on from there, with Simaima Taufa, Jordyn Preston and Bella Waterman nabbing doubles.
The Raiders are just the second NRLW team this season to crack 50. The first was the Sharks, against the Raiders in round two.
1h agoSat 23 Aug 2025 at 4:24amHello and welcome to Saturday afternoon footy
We’ve got a few intriguing match-ups in the NRL today, for various different reasons.
First up we’ll see Daly Cherry-Evans celebrate his 350th NRL game as the Sea Eagles face the Dolphins at Brookvale Oval with DCE’s relationship with Manly hardly at its best.
Then the Warriors try to get back into the top four with a showdown against the last-placed Titans.
Over in NRLW, the undefeated Roosters face the Eels, who are massive outsiders at a time when talk about the disparity in the league is at a fever pitch.
And we close out the day with the men’s Roosters in Parramatta, looking to shore up their spot in the top eight.
