Islam Makhachev hit back at Jon Jones with a pinch of sarcasm to continue their undefeated streak-related feud.

Islam Makhachev added another chapter to his feud with Jon Jones over the latter’s undefeated streak. Makhachev tried to clear up Jones’ likely misconception that the Dagestani didn’t respect his achievements, but he ended with a sarcastic jab to back up his initial allegations.

Makhachev ignited the feud with Jones by rejecting his 20-fight undefeated streak since he was suspended by the USADA twice in the meantime. Jones didn’t take the reigning welterweight champion’s words in a good light and penned a five-point reply to present his argument about how the authorities deemed his prohibited substance use “unintentional” in both cases.

In his reply, the former UFC heavyweight champion also highlighted Makhachev’s late coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s appreciation, to prove his status in the sport.

Makhachev clarified at the very beginning of his recent response that he never tried to taint what Jones has accomplished. However, he ended it with a jibe at his adversary, referencing the multiple instances where Jones got into trouble for “breaking the rules.”

The reigning welterweight king shared an X update, reading, “Jon, I’m not trying to diminish your achievements in any way. But your whole life seems to be tied to breaking the rules one way or another, and somehow, you’re never the one to be blamed.”

Avid UFC fans already know how Jones has gotten into trouble by breaking rules even outside the octagon. Hence, there’s certainly some degree of truth behind Makhachev’s remarks.

Till now, this feud was limited to issues about Jones and Makhachev’s UFC careers. But with the latter choosing to make things personal with his “whole life” comments, it will be interesting to watch if Jones chooses to take the same route to respond to his adversary.
