HOUSTON — After two years of preparation, the Rice Women’s Golf team will play its inaugural event, Sept. 18-20, at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C. The tournament will be hosted by Furman and played at Furman Golf Club.
 
TEAM FIELD
 
Joining Rice in the 12-team field are Alabama, Augusta, Daytona State College, Florida Gulf Coast, Furman, Georgia State, High Point, Minnesota, Old Dominion, Samford, and Xavier.

THE LINEUP

Jessica Jang – No. 1 position … first career tournament … two top five finishes on AJGC, including a third-place at the Sacramento Junior Championship…tied for ninth at the K.J. Choi Foundation Texas Junior Championship, carding rounds of 69-70-72…three-time Toyota Tour Cup Champion on the Southern California PGA Tour…runner-up at the Southern California Junior Amateur, finishing -8, including a second round 66…participated in the 2024 U.S. Girls Junior Amateur.

Elisabeth Borsheim – No. 2 position … first career tournament … joined Rice as a freshman prior to 2025-26 … named the IMG Player of the Year in 2023 … last year, had a 74.2 stroke average … had five top 10 finishes on the Florida State Golf Association, including a tie for fifth at the Vero Beach Open in September … in July, she earned a runner-up finish at the Srixon Tour’s Under-19 tournament in Losby, Norway.

Amelie Phung – No. 3 position … first career tournament … joined Rice as a freshman prior to 2025-26 … helped Florida Atlantic University High School to the 2023 Florida State championship and a third-place finish at the National High School Championship … in 2022, was named the Palm Beach County Player of the Year after winning the Honda Invitational, where she fired a 66 … earned a runner-up finish at the state championship … last year, earned five top three finishes, including medalist honors at the Florida Junior Tour’s MLK Major and the Labor Day Major … as a junior, had a 72.8 stroke average.

 

Ari Boone – No. 4 position … first career tournament … three top two finishes on the AJGA including a victory at the Mizuno Junior Championship at Sea Island and the Discover Puerto Rico Championship, where she fired rounds of 70-68-68…tied  for sixth-place at the Mizuno West Coast Championship, carding rounds of 69-71-74…earned four top three finishes on the Florida State Golf Association Tour…won the FJT Stone Creek Open, where she opened with a 65…won the 66th FJT Girl’s Junior Championship, closing with rounds of 67-69…in back-to-back years, she finished in the top 2 at the FJT Junior Amateur Match Play, earning the championship in 2023 and finishing runner-up the following year.

 

Justine Bayle – No. 5 position … transfer from Tampa … Second Team All-American … two-time All-Sunshine State Conference … ranked as high as 12th nationally last year … averaged 74.55 strokes in two seasons … 10 rounds of par or better … four Top Five, eight Top 10, and 10 Top 20 finishes … had two victories, at the 2025 Patsy Rendleman Invitational and the 2026 World Golf Invitational … last year, recorded a 74.50 scoring average, finishing +3 relative to par … capped her campaign at the NCAA DII Women’s National Championship (5/12–14), carding a 75-74-72 for a 221 (+5) total to claim a tie for 5th place.

PAIRINGS

Play begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. CT. The Owls will tee off from hole No. 1 and will compete in groups with student-athletes from Alabama, Furman, and Minnesota. Tuesday and Wednesday’s tee times and pairings will depend on results following the previous round.

Following the Lady Paladin Invitational, the Owls travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Arkansas on Oct. 3-5.
