WALKINSHAW TWG Racing could notch up 200 Supercars Championship race wins at the Repco Bathurst 1000, with the squad’s AirTouch 500 win at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park taking them to 199.

Since breaking through with Peter Brock at Eastern Creek Raceway in 1994, the ‘golden era’ for the outfit saw Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife win six drivers’ championships in seven years.

All told, the only team ahead of the outfit in terms of wins is Triple Eight Race Engineering, with 285.

Championship race-winning drivers for the team include Brock, Lowndes, Greg Murphy, Skaife, Tony Longhurst, Jim Richards, Todd Kelly, Garth Tander, Will Davison, Cameron McConville, James Courtney, Nick Percat, Jack Perkins, Scott Pye, Chaz Mostert, Lee Holdsworth, Ryan Wood, and now Fabian Coulthard.

Skaife’s 66 wins for the team lead Lowndes (49), Tander (24), Mostert (17), Kelly (15) and Brock (9).

The team has previously campaigned as Holden Racing Team, HSV Racing, and Walkinshaw Andretti United, and has raced Holdens, Fords and Toyotas to victory lane.

Clear As Mud! | The Undercut

THE Undercut returns, breaking down the latest news in the world of Supercars racing!

This week on The Undercut’s Number Crunching, presented by My Supercars, the V8 Sleuth Aaron Noonan joined James Moffat to break down the team’s success, plus the 200-win milestone they already achieved 15 years ago.

“They’re very impressive numbers to think that they are one race away from 200; it’s a serious achievement,” said Noonan.

“At Bathurst in 2011, that was the 200th all-time race win for HRT, so that was counting all the non-championship races, remember, the Albert Park Grand Prix, Gold Coast Indy, Adelaide Grand Prix; Wayne Gardner had a win there for HRT as well.

“So, 200 championship wins is what’s next on the line, so expect posters, expect collectibles, expect memorabilia – I’m sure internally they are well aware that they’re sitting on 199, and if they’re not, they will be now if they watch The Undercut; that’s definitely for sure!”
