The Australian Gangurrus women’s team are through to the FIBA under 23s World Cup Quarter-Finals after clean-sweeping their group fixtures.

The Aussies, led by Adelaide’s Tayla Brazel and Townsville’s Catelyn Van Es, opened their accounts in China by defeating Japan 20-11, before outlasting Kenya 21-12.

Wednesday’s two wins were backed up by victories over Slovenia (20-17) and the United States (forfeit).

The Gangurrus, who also feature former Sydney Flame Carla Pitman and former Centre of Excellence talent Sophie Taylor, finished on top of Group D thanks to these four wins.

Next up for the green and gold stars are Canada, who finished second in Group B, in the Quarter-Finals.

The Australian men’s team, featuring Devan Craig, Keegan Phillips, Griffin Bower and Will Mahoney, topped Group C and will face the Netherlands in the Quarter-Finals.
