Tom Segura is heading to the golf course to become exactly the kind of stranger you dread getting paired with. The comedian is leading Golf Trip, a new ensemble comedy also starring Andrew Santino, Timothy Simons, Sinqua Walls, Heather Graham and John Stamos. One missing friend, one unwanted replacement and a long-running tradition that’s about to go spectacularly sideways.
The story centres on a group of friends whose annual golf getaway has survived for two decades. When their usual fourth pulls out at the last minute, the remaining three end up sharing the course with Chuck Wheeler (Segura), a solo player who wastes absolutely no time acting as though he’s been part of the gang for years. The feeling is decidedly not mutual.
Deadline broke the news, with production now underway on the comedy from Live Nation Studios, Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat and All Things Comedy. Nicholas Thomas is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Corey Pendergast. Thomas previously co-wrote and executive produced the 2014 Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson comedy Let’s Be Cops.
Who’s Playing Who in Golf Trip?
Segura takes centre stage as Chuck, the outsider who crashes what was supposed to be familiar territory for the three friends. Santino plays Jason, Simons is Don and Walls plays Mike, while Graham has been cast as Margo and Stamos as Ted. Producer Jolene will also appear as Stacy.
There’s a fun mix of comic backgrounds in the group. Segura is coming off the second season of his wonderfully inappropriate Netflix anthology series Bad Thoughts, while Santino brings both stand-up credentials and a genuine love of golf to the project. Along with co-hosting Bad Friends with Bobby Lee, he hosts the golf-focused podcast No Bad Lies.
Simons spent seven seasons weaponising awkwardness as Jonah Ryan on Veep and more recently appeared in Netflix hit Nobody Wants This. Walls’ credits include White Men Can’t Jump, while Graham recently appeared in horror-action-comedy They Will Kill You. Stamos, meanwhile, brings decades of television comedy experience to the ensemble.
Three Comedy Companies Are Behind the Film

Golf Trip brings together Live Nation Studios, Hartbeat and All Things Comedy. Stella Bulochnikov and Jolene are producing alongside Luke Kelly-Clyne and Kevin Hart for Hartbeat and Billy Rosenberg for All Things Comedy.
Segura and Santino are also executive producers alongside Thomas and Jeremy Stein, with Aaron Edmonds and Harold Berón III representing Hartbeat and Ryan Kroft and Michael Rapino executive producing for Live Nation Studios. Brendan Darmody is serving as co-executive producer.
Live Nation Studios head of film and television Ryan Kroft said the project offered its comedians a chance to “expand their talents to scripted projects,” while Hartbeat Studios EVP Luke Kelly-Clyne spoke about the strength of the ensemble and giving the performers room to make the material their own.
And the setup certainly seems built to let that ensemble bounce off one another. A ritual between old friends already comes with years of history, inside jokes and accumulated baggage. Dropping Segura’s overfamiliar Chuck into the middle of it gives everyone something new to fight about.
When Will Golf Trip Be Released?
There’s no release date for Golf Trip just yet, and a distributor has not been announced. Production is now underway, so expect more details on where and when the comedy will land as filming moves further along.
