Cyclonitas Lead the Schooner Fall Classic With One Round to Go

NORMAN, Okla. – The Cyclonitas shot the fourth-lowest round in school history (267, -13) today to take the lead at the Schooner Fall Classic at -19. Iowa State leads by six strokes over TCU and host Oklahoma, with help from four Cyclones carding a 67 or lower in today’s second round. Virginia Tech’s Xin Yao Wang and Oklahoma’s Satonkan Thiengsri (Ind.) lead the individual race at -7.

Alexandra Vidal sits one stroke back of the lead and is in a five-way tie for third at six-under par. Vidal shot a 66 in the second round, the third-lowest round of her career and tying the lowest round in the field on the day. Vidal has carded 13 birdies so far in the tournament and has a 4.50 Par 5 scoring average, both leading the entire field. After carding a career-best round yesterday, Isabella Yan sets a new low with a 67 today to sit five-under par and in a tie for eighth. Yan is third in Par 4 scoring (-4) and has totaled seven birdies.

Emma Zheng carded yet another round in the 60’s, this time shooting a career-low 67 to tie for eighth (-5) heading into the final round. Zheng leads the field in Par 4 scoring at five-under par and is second in birdies with 11. Nichakorn Pinprayoon shot three-under par in the second round to jump into the Top-15, her 17th sub-70 round of her career. Pinprayoon has tallied eight birdies in her last two rounds.

Krittiya Thanintorndamrongdej is tied for 55th at four-over par after shooting a 73 in the second round. Thanintorndamrongdej has carded five birdies so far in the tournament. Individual Aelisa Twiltermsup shot a career-best round of 73 today to tie for 75th heading into the final round.

The Cyclonitas look to win a second-consecutive individual and team title tomorrow, with the final round of the Schooner Fall Classic starting 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
