Three 18-year-old men have been arrested after an 11-year-old boy was shot in the face and neck in Sydney’s north-west.
Police were called to a Norwest home in the Hills District about 5pm on Monday.

Paramedics treated the seriously injured boy at the scene before rushing him to hospital, where Superintendent Naomi Moore said he remained with his mother into the night.
“She is as distressed as any parent would be about what she is dealing with at the moment,” the Hills District Police Area Command commander said.
“It is an absolute tragic situation.
“And as we’ve seen some tragedy across Sydney in the last couple of days, this is not far from the worst that I’ve seen.”
Moore said it was “far too early” to say what happened inside the Fairway Drive apartment but police did not believe the shooting was linked to organised crime.
“We have nothing to suggest that it is organised-crime-related, but we will conduct a very thorough investigation into this,” she said, seeking to calm anyone “fearful on the streets out here at the moment”.

“It’s a tragic situation with an 11-year-old child suffering this injury.”
Moore said when police arrived there were four 18-year-old men, a 44-year-old woman and the victim at the house.
Everyone there was described as either a friend or relative of the victim had been allowed into the house.
She said the three arrested males and two other people were assisting police with their inquiries but wouldn’t reveal whether or not they’d been cooperative.

The police helicopter was circling an apartment block and the riot squad was on the scene.
The emergency was unfolding as people left work and not long after local children left a nearby school.
