As cycling fans, sure, we love seeing the race, but sometimes it’s also just as awesome to see some of the gear the pros use. Especially if it’s something new…and fast. Yeah, yeah, it’s not about the bike. Marlen Reusser could smoke all of us on a CCM bike (see what I did there?) but for the worlds, she had something just a bit quicker.
Reusser’s second TT win
The defending champ won the women’s individual time trial at the 2026 UCI road world championships in Montreal on what appears to be Canyon’s unreleased Speedmax CFR TT.
It was clear the chrono ace was on form–she won the Chrono de Gatineau days earlier, absolutely clobbering everyone.
The Swiss rider covered the 39.2-km course in 50:24 to take the rainbow jersey, beating Great Britain’s Zoe Bäckstedt by 40 seconds. Bäckstedt led at the first two time checks before Reusser pulled away on the final section of the course. Btw, Bäckstedt, who has pretty decent lineage given her dad won Paris-Roubaix, is technically under-23. But since she’s won, well, everything, in that category, she’s decided to level up and race with the elites. And boy oh boy, she’s shown she’s totally in the major leagues.
The ride
The bike appears to be a new time trial version of Canyon’s Speedmax, sharing design cues with the company’s latest triathlon bike. Canyon has not yet released the TT bike publicly, and technical details remain limited.
Reusser’s victory was the bike’s first apparent race outing, while Bäckstedt also rode the same machine to silver.
The result gives Canyon a 1-2 finish in the first elite women’s time trial at the Montreal worlds, with its unreleased TT bike immediately making an appearance on the sport’s biggest stage.
