Slipknot appear to be teasing an announcement for September 28th with a new campaign that has begun surfacing online and in cities around the world, which some fans think may be a tour or multiple tours.

A teaser site at unlock.slipknot1.com currently displays the band’s logo alongside the numbers “09” and “28,” while corresponding advertisements have reportedly been spotted in San Francisco, CA, Hershey, PA, Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, CA, Toronto, ON, Bogota, Colombia, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Mexico City, Mexico.

What exactly Slipknot intend to announce remains unclear. Given the locations featured in the campaign, speculation among fans has centered around a potential tour announcement.

The band have also been working on their eighth studio album with producer Matt Wallace, though that record does not appear to be immediately forthcoming. Guitarist Jim Root recently indicated that tracking remained underway.

Earlier this month, the group surprise released the new single “Arsenal.” Root subsequently clarified that the track is a standalone release and will not appear on the forthcoming album.
