Tyrese Haliburton spent the entire 2025-26 NBA season on the sidelines as he recovered from a torn Achilles injury.
As a result, the Indiana Pacers failed to repeat their 2025 postseason success, and the Eastern Conference became wide open for the New York Knicks.
The Knicks made sure to capitalize on this opportunity as they defeated the San Antonio Spurs and became the 2026 NBA champions.

Ahead of the new season, Haliburton recently made an appearance on Boardroom Talks, where he discussed a plethora of things, including his honest reaction to the Knicks lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy.
“The Knicks are they like our rival? Yes. But are those guys– I like those guys and like their friends? Yeah,” Haliburton said.
He added, “At the same time, you know, I usually watch a Finals celebration when I have before in my life; I watch because that’s a special thing and like an emotional thing to watch guys win a championship.
“I’m always like man that’s fire, but when the Knicks won I thought to myself, I got to turn this s___ off.”

Some will say Haliburton was wrong for doing this, but others will agree that the current NBA is missing such rivalries.
After all, the Pacers missed the chance to win the NBA Championship in 2025, and their cornerstone superstar watching the celebrations of the Knicks wouldn’t have sat well with the fanbase.
