Adelaide defender Jordon Butts has played his last game for the Crows, with confirmation today that the free agent will walk to a Melbourne rival.

Butts, who played 94 games across his seven seasons in South Australia, is heading home to Victoria and will sign for the Western Bulldogs as early as next week.

“Jordon Butts has informed the Club he intends to sign with the Western Bulldogs via Free Agency this off-season,” the Crows said in a statement on Friday.
“Butts is an unrestricted free agent having spent eight seasons at West Lakes after joining the Crows at Pick 39 in the 2018 Rookie Draft.
“The Club would like to thank Jordon for his commitment and professionalism over the past eight years and wish him all the best for the future.”
Butts’ arrival is a massive boost for the Bulldogs who have been trying to bolster their defensive stocks.
The club had attempted to lure Butts across the border this time last year, but couldn’t get a deal done.
Now as a free agent, the move is simple.
Butts completed a medical at the club on Monday before informing both the Crows and Bulldogs of his decision on Friday.
He’ll join big name recruit Zak Butters in arriving at Footscray ahead of 2027.
After serving as Mark Keane’s injury replacement early this season, Butts managed just nine appearances for Adelaide in 2026.
The 26-year-old had fallen out of favour at the Crows after suffering a calf injury in June and didn’t feature again at senior level.
Under free agency rules, Butts can now sign for the Western Bulldogs from Friday, October 2.
