Angelina Jolie’s Los Feliz estate sells below US$29.85million asking price

“I grew up in this town,” Jolie told the Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.”

She told the outlet she expected to spend significant time in Cambodia and visit family members elsewhere around the world.

Jolie has long-standing ties to Cambodia, where her eldest son Maddox was born, and owns several properties there.

The 1020sq m house occupies more than two acres in the gated Laughlin Park enclave, with views towards the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Observatory.

The property includes a swimming pool and pool house, fitness studio, tea house and a separate guest studio with a living room, fireplace and private entrance. The grounds also include gardens, lawns, a garage and a security station.

The estate is part of the history of some of Hollywood’s earliest movers and shakers.

According to the listing description, architect B. Cooper Corbett designed the main house in 1913, and the property underwent an extensive six-year renovation before Jolie bought it.

Film-maker Cecil B. DeMille bought the property in 1916 and lived there until his death in 1959.

DeMille, often called a founding father of American cinema, shaped modern film-making by directing and producing 70 feature films from the silent era through the rise of sound and colour.

In 1920, DeMille expanded the estate by acquiring a neighbouring house once lived in by Charlie Chaplin. The two residences were subsequently connected by a glass corridor.
