A male police officer has been injured after allegedly being stabbed in the neck while on duty in Brisbane’s east, according to the police union.
Police said officers were called to a reported disturbance at a property on Bogong Street in Hemmant just after five on Sunday morning.
Officers spoke with two men at the property before a male constable was injured.
The officer was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition.
QPU president Shane Prior said police officers in Queensland are facing an “increasingly dangerous” environment.

Police Union President Shane Prior said the officer had been stabbed in the neck and upper torso area.
“This officer is a hero. Whilst holding onto his neck to stop the bleeding, he managed to chase after the offender, deploy a taser — but had to stop because he was getting weary from blood loss,” he said.
“This officer graduated from the academy in July. Only 10 weeks service — two weeks out of his mentor period. He’s a man in his 40s, married, two young children. Prior to this job, he worked for the Red Cross.
“We need to make sure police are equipped with the appropriate tactical first aid kits and tourniquets and equipment that may very well save their life, like a vest [would] in other situations.
“We need to make sure that our police in this state are given the right tools to deal with a job that is becoming increasingly dangerous.”
One of the men fled the scene on a bicycle before abandoning it and continuing on foot.
Police later located the man and took him into custody a short time later.
