Xtream Player is one of the most beloved Android Auto apps, and for good reason. It offers plenty of useful features, and the developer regularly releases updates with improvements and bug fixes. Now, the app is getting yet another update with several quality-of-life enhancements.
The new version (v1.7.50) of Xtream Player was announced in a post on Reddit, bringing several additions for both free and premium users. For starters, the FS XtreamPlayer Mirror can now fill the entire car screen for a more immersive experience, properly scaling your phone’s display on your infotainment system.
The update also resolves a few annoying bugs with M3U streaming. The app’s TV add-on can now play M3U channels that require their own user agent without any trouble. It also ensures live M3U channels load from a valid start time, so you don’t run into playback issues when streaming live TV in your car.
For premium users, the update introduces Plex Live TV support, so users can stream live channels from Plex in their car. It also adds proper categorization for movies and TV shows. However, according to comments on the Reddit post, Plex Live TV support is currently broken, though the developer noted that a fix will roll out soon. Premium users also gain support for playing YouTube videos at the highest available quality, along with several other YouTube-specific updates.
Users can now choose whether YouTube videos go full-screen automatically or play in-page. They can also switch between the YouTube mobile and desktop sites, and the update fixes a bug that caused the FS Player’s ad-skip feature to leave videos stuck on a grayed-out play icon.
