A first look at David Mitchell in Ludwig season three has arrived. The hit BBC series is currently filming the next set of episodes, with production hitting Hertfordshire this week.
The on-set snap from Hemel Hempstead shows the actor back in character alongside Dipo Ola, who plays Russell Carter, with the setting appearing to be a bank robbery (via Watford Observer).
The show has been shooting at Liberty Tea Rooms, which is apparently doubling for the Bryford Bank in the fictional Elmswick.

Ludwig wrapped the broadcast of the second season earlier this month, with the show continuing to attract a huge audience.
According to the BBC, the season two opener took in 9.1 million viewers across 28 days, becoming the biggest scripted launch across streamers and broadcasters, while its 5.5 million on BBC iPlayer gives it the second-biggest audience for an opening episode of a comedy in 2026.
“We always felt there was something special about Ludwig, but the scale of the audience response has been extraordinary,” said BBC commissioning editor Gregor Sharp.
“Mark Brotherhood’s brilliant scripts, David Mitchell’s unforgettable performance and the fantastic work of the teams at Big Talk and That Mitchell and Webb Company have created a show that viewers have truly embraced.

The show has received huge praise, with one fan on Rotten Tomatoes calling it “captivating” and another saying it was “a joy to watch”.
Before season three lands, fans will be treated to a Christmas special later this year, which is set to feature Poirot legend Sir David Suchet.
