Carrey was also in a long-term relationship with TV star Jenny McCarthy between 2005 and 2010.
He went public with Ah when he headed to France to accept a special honour at the Cesar Awards in Paris in February. The couple were photographed together at the event alongside the actor’s daughter Jane.
Carrey gave Ah a special mention in his speech, which he delivered in French, calling her his “sublime companion” and professing his love for her.
“Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever,” he said.
“Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah. I love you, Min Ah.
“And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father, Percy Joseph Carrey, who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter.”
Carrey, 64, announced in 2022 he was stepping down from his Hollywood career after nearly 40 years in the film industry, but he came out of retirement to play Doctor Eggman in the 2024 movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and said his break gave him a “new appreciation” for acting.
However, Carrey insisted he loves his new “quiet life” away from the spotlight and it would take a special role to bring him back to Hollywood.
He told Access Hollywood: “I’m being fairly serious. It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink, that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road. But I’m taking a break …
“I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life, and I feel like – and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough.”
