There are few better places to stay in golf than the Marine & Lawn Rusacks, which sits beside the 18th fairway at the Old Course at St Andrews. Next year for The Open, it’ll be the place to be—and that was made official in an announcement on Thursday from the R&A and Marine & Lawn Golf Hotels, making the Marine & Lawn Rusacks the official hotel of the 155th Open.
The storied hotel will host a series of experiences during tournament week as part of the R&A partnership, including up at its rooftop bar, 18, which overlooks one of the most famous finishing holes in the game.
“St Andrews is where Marine & Lawn began, and in many ways, it’s where we learned what a great golf hotel should be,” said Ben Weprin, CEO of AJ Capital Partners. “The game has a remarkable ability to connect generations, and The Open is its greatest expression of that. To welcome the Championship home to St Andrews—and to invite golfers to experience the courses and traditions that have defined it in partnership with The R&A—is something we’ve dreamed about since we opened our doors here.”

Four “Open Grand Tours” will take place between May 2027 and June 2028 with the capacity for 16 guests in each. More details on how to book and which venues will participate will be shared in the fall.
“The Open Grand Tour will give golfers the opportunity to experience some of the renowned links that have played an important part in the Championship’s history, while gaining a closer insight into The Open and its heritage,” said Harry Keeling, director of partnerships at the R&A.

The exciting news for Marine & Lawn comes in conjunction with a rebranding of the company to Marine & Lawn Golf Hotels. The brand has some of the most premium hotels in golf, including the Marine & Lawn Slieve Donard and Portrush in Northern Ireland, Marine & Lawn North Berwick, Dornoch and Troon in Scotland. Two new additions for be added to the brand in 2027: Marine & Lawn Greywalls, a country estate with six acres of walled gardens beside Muirfield’s 18th green, which will relaunch in Summer 2027, and Marine & Lawn Pine Needles in Pinehurst, N.C., which will debut as the collection’s first U.S. property in Fall 2027.
“Arriving with the new name is a motto found at Greywalls,” said Phillip Allen, president of Marine & Lawn Golf Hotels. “Inscribed on an entrance keystone in 1901 is the Latin phrase LVDO ERGO VIVO, which translates as I PLAY, THEREFORE I LIVE. In very few words, it captures the passion, vitality, and excitement of the golfers Marine & Lawn Golf Hotels was built to serve, and it sits at the heart of the brand today.”
